Valor Archery Challenge | Veteran 3D Archery, Colorado Springs Skip to main content

Yes, absolutely! We warmly welcome participants from all backgrounds – military, veterans, and civilians alike. Our goal is to bring the entire community together for a fantastic 3D archery experience. Come on out and join the challenge!

For Experienced Archers (Bringing Your Own Gear)

If you have your own gear, fantastic! Please pack your essentials, which should include:

Your Bow (compound, recurve, or traditional)
Arrows (We highly recommend bringing lots of arrows—our challenging courses can be tough even for the most experienced bowhunter!)
    Optics (Binos and/or a rangefinder)
Comfort/Safety Gear (Hiking boots, water, and any hydration/snacks you'll need)
Most importantly: A great attitude and a sense of adventure!

For New Archers (Equipment Rentals)

If you're new to the sport or don't have equipment, that's okay! We offer full rental packages to get you on the course:

Our complete rental package for $15, covers the cost of a rental bow (adult or kid size), 6 arrows, a hip quiver, and an arm guard.
All you need to bring is comfortable footwear, water, and that sense of adventure—we are positive it will be a fun and challenging course for new archers, too!

Absolutely, Valor Archery Challenge is designed with you in mind, and we're truly honored you're considering us as part of your wellness journey. We understand that stepping into something new, especially when managing personal challenges, can feel daunting. Here's how we address those concerns:

  • "Archery as Therapy" is Central to Our Mission: While we host "challenges," our core belief is in the profound therapeutic benefits of archery – the focus, the mindful breathing, the connection with nature, and the sense of accomplishment. Many veterans find it incredibly calming and a powerful way to manage stress and anxiety. It's less about competitive performance and more about personal progress and well-being.
  • Zero Experience? No Problem! Our events are genuinely entry-level friendly. You do not need any prior archery experience. We have a dedicated team of coaches and volunteers specifically there to welcome and guide absolute beginners through every step, from selecting your rental gear to your very first shot. We aim to make your introduction to archery comfortable and enjoyable.
  • Welcoming & Supportive Community: You won't be alone. Our community is built on camaraderie and mutual respect, with a strong presence of fellow veterans, active military, and supportive civilians. We foster an environment where everyone feels welcome, understood, and encouraged. Many participants come alone and leave having made new connections.
  • Clear Beginner Pathway & Rentals:
    • Rentals: Yes, we have all the equipment you'll need! Our staff will help you choose the right bow and arrows from our rental fleet. Just let us know you're new, and we'll handle the setup. The $15 rental fee covers everything you'll need for the day.
    • Coaching: We have coaches on-site who provide initial guidance and safety briefings for all participants, especially beginners. For those looking for more in-depth instruction, specific coaching programs or dedicated beginner sessions might be available – please ask us directly about upcoming opportunities tailored for novices.
  • Low-Pressure Introduction: While our full challenges offer varied courses, we ensure beginners have a supportive start. We encourage you to focus on the process and enjoyment, not just the score. There's no pressure to perform; just come to learn, relax, and enjoy.
  • Want to talk first? We highly encourage it! If you have any specific concerns or just want to chat before signing up, please don't hesitate to contact us directly via support@valorarcherychallenge.com. We'd be happy to answer all your questions and make sure you feel comfortable taking that first step.

We truly believe in the power of archery for healing and connection, and we're excited for you to experience it.

Definitely! We love seeing young archers and families out on the course. With kids 12 and under shooting for free with paid adult,  it's a perfect opportunity to introduce them to 3D archery in a fun and supportive environment. Bring the whole family!

Welcome to the world of archery! Rental equipment and beginner coaching are available at designated Valor events. Check the individual event page for availability.

Absolutely! For friends looking to try archery, we offer rental packages for just $15. We have both adult and kids' rental equipment available, including a bow, 6 arrows, an arm guard, and a hip quiver, providing everything a new archer needs to experience the sport and shoot alongside their friends. Registration fee for the event is also required.

You can expect our event courses to offer a welcoming experience for beginners without sacrificing the excitement that experienced archers crave. We achieve this balance through creative shot scenarios and a wide variety of targets. However, it's our exclusive moving targets that truly elevate the experience, adding a unique layer of fun and realism you won't find at other events.

You bet there are! We love to mix things up with exciting and unique novelty shots. Get ready to try your hand at challenges like busting clay pigeons with an arrow, hitting moving targets, playing tic-tac-toe with fellow archers, navigating the swinging ball of doom, and testing your luck at 5-card archery stud! You'll have to come experience the fun firsthand!

Great question! We encourage archers to shoot from a distance where they feel confident and comfortable. As long as you remain between the marked shooting cone and the target cone, feel free to adjust your position accordingly.

While walk-up registration is permitted, we highly encourage you to register online before the event. This helps us streamline the check-in process and ensures you're placed in your preferred nock time. Walk-up archers will be accommodated as space allows in available nock time groups.

Single Event Tickets: Refunds are allowed up to 30 days prior to the start of the event or unless Valor Archery Challenge cancels an event. No refunds will be offered after the 30-day deadline.

Season Pass Tickets: All season pass purchases are non-refundable. However, season pass holders may transfer their pass to another individual by contacting us at least 14 days prior to an event.

SimpleTix Fees: No refunds will be offered from SimpleTix, our 3rd party registration platform, for their processing fees.

Please use the contact form regarding refunds or pass transfers.

Yes! Spectators are welcome and may walk the entire course absolutely free of charge.

We encourage family, friends, and supporters to come out and experience the challenge and the camaraderie firsthand. Whether you are cheering on a favorite archer or just interested in seeing what 3D archery is all about, we'd love to have you. We just ask that spectators observe all safety rules while on the range.

Safety is our top priority at Valor Archery Challenge. Adhering to these simple rules ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone:

  • Target Identification: Each shooting station will have a clearly marked orange cone with a number, matching the number on an orange cone located near your assigned target. Always confirm you are shooting at your positively identified target before releasing an arrow.
  • Clear Target Zone: Never shoot if anyone is at or near the target. Ensure the area around your designated target is completely clear of all people before drawing your bow.
  • Announce "Clear": After your group has retrieved all arrows from a target and moved a safe distance away, clearly and loudly announce "CLEAR!" to signal to the next group that the lane is safe to shoot.
  • Efficient Arrow Retrieval: If you miss the target, please retrieve your arrow(s) as quickly as possible. Take only a few minutes to search to maintain the flow of archers through the course and avoid unnecessary delays for groups behind you.
  • Participant Visibility: For your safety and visibility on the course, we highly recommend wearing bright or reflective clothing.
  • Follow All Instructions: Always listen to and follow the instructions of Valor Archery Challenge staff and volunteers.
  • Stay on Marked Paths: For your safety and to protect the course, please stay on designated paths and do not wander into unmarked areas.
  • Why aren’t crossbows allowed at Valor Archery Challenge events?: Crossbows are not permitted because the speed and force of their bolts cause excessive wear and damage to our 3D targets. In addition, bolts can be very difficult to remove, which slows down the course and impacts other participants’ experience.

Your cooperation helps ensure a safe and positive experience for all participants.
